Message on the occasion of December 22, 2007 demonstration in Belgium

It is with great revolutionary enthusiasm that word of Iranian students and others marching against both the US and Iranian Embassy in Brussels reached the ears of revolutionaries and youth in the United States.

Increasingly humanity is being confronted with two intolerable choices: U.S. wars of aggression or a reactionary Islamic fundamentalist response. The aggression of the U.S. is the greater danger to the people of the world -- already having claimed as many as a million lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, driven millions more from their homes, shredded the bonds of family and friends as sectarian rivalries have been built up and played off each other, and now threatening to expand their aggression into Iran. In response to this, the accelerated growth of Islamic fundamentalism has made life a living hell for women, children, secular and revolutionary forces, and has only served to reinforce – and offer a foil for – more imperialist aggression.

Neither of these “choices” offers anything good for humanity. As Bob Avakian, Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, has pointed out: "What we see in contention here with Jihad on the one hand and McWorld/McCrusade on the other hand, are historically outmoded strata among colonized and oppressed humanity up against historically outmoded ruling strata of the imperialist system. These two reactionary poles reinforce each other, even while opposing each other. If you side with either of these ‘outmodeds,’ you end up strengthening both."

As the U.S. threatens to expand their aggression into Iran – a move that could enflame the whole Middle East and massively escalate the deadly global dynamic of McWorld vs. Jihad – the protests by Iranian students and others on December 22 stand out as all the more critical. With the future at stake, the world is hungry for a new voice and new songs to animate a struggle to bring a whole new, emancipated world into being.

Having been on dozens of campuses across this country, building resistance to the crimes against humanity of the Bush regime and spreading revolution, I have seen and tasted how deeply a new generation in the U.S. is disgusted, disturbed and enraged by what is being done in their names. But I also know how deeply this is paralyzed by the way it appears that the only choices out there are McWorld or Jihad. How big a difference it will make for them to see and hear you, as part of a new voice emerging.

How big a responsibility those of us living in the U.S. have to bring forward resistance to “our own” government –mass political resistance that is so powerful it cannot be hidden from the victims of the U.S.’s wars, who are justifiably seething with hatred for all this brings down on them.

It is possible – and the youth more than anyone else must dare – to bring about a competing global dynamic, where our new voices reverberate across oceans and echo across continents, opening up new possibilities, giving hope and fueling forward truly emancipatory and liberating struggles, in opposition to both McWorld and Jihad , from within the imperialist citadels as well as out of the rubble of homes caused by U.S. aggression.

It is possible – and the youth more than anyone else must dare – to explore and bring forward revolutionary movements aimed at getting to a world without the grinding wars of imperialist plunder, without the massive lopsidedness of extraordinary wealth concentrated among a handful in the imperialist countries and the growing mass of exploited, degraded and expendable humanity brought about by the global system of capitalism, without its corresponding ideas such as patriarchy and false concepts of some unchanging, selfish “human nature.”

It is possible – and the youth more than anyone else must dare – to bring about a world without the enslavement of religious ignorance whether propagated by the evolution-denying George Bush or of his ideological counterparts in the Islamic clerics. Instead, a new generation must fight to, and increasingly enable, the oppressed to take up a scientific approach towards everything, including the project of humanity’s emancipation.

It is possible – and the youth more than anyone else must dare – to bring about a world where women are treated as human beings, not as slaves or property of men, where women are neither plundered as sex objects nor shrouded and veiled to protect their virginal “purity.” It is no longer tolerable – or necessary – for half of humanity to be subjugated, enslaved and brutalized in either the “modern” forms of the West or the traditional forms being reasserted in the Middle East. Instead, across the globe, the fury of women must be brought forward as a mighty force for a truly liberating revolution aimed at emancipating all of humanity!

All this will require not only fierce struggle, resistance and sacrifice against the actions of the U.S. and the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also scientifically searching and honestly engaging the vexing problems that lie before us. All of this will require struggling and studying and thinking and dreaming beyond the confines of what today seems “possible” and “realistic.” This requires looking deeply at the structures that have brought the world to where it is today and the ideas that have reinforced all this – and what kind of revolution and communism it will take to really enable humanity to get beyond the many nightmares that are so commonplace today.

And the youth, more than anyone else, must fearlessly enter into that search –refusing to listen to the cynics who say you can't change the whole world, who try to lower your sights. History shows that the dreamers and fighters are right. Follow your principles, work to realize your deepest and highest aspirations, and follow THAT where it leads you.

As the cries of the imperialists and the reactionary fundamentalists escalate towards a confrontation in Iran, do not underestimate how hungry humanity is for another way. Play the role that youth have always played – get way out front, build uncompromising mass political resistance to any moves towards U.S. war on Iran and to the repression carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran, refuse to be confined by the limitations of what now exists, reject everything that is reactionary, challenge the passivity of others, and dare to struggle and sacrifice in the service of dreams big and liberating enough to offer real hope for humanity. Do it with urgency, do it with determination, and do it with tremendous joy --– for there is nothing that could matter more.

خبر تظاهرات دانشجویان ایرانی و دیگران در مقابل هر دو سفارت آمریکا و ایران در بروکسل، در میان ما انقلابیون وجوانان آمریکا هیجان زیادی بوجود آورد.

بشریت بطور روزافزونی با دو انتخاب غیر قابل تحمل روبرو می شود: جنگهای تجاوزکارانه آمریکا یا یک بدیل ارتجاعی بنیادگرای اسلامی. تجاوز آمریکا که پیشاپیش جان یک میلیون انسان را در عراق و افغانستان گرفته و میلیون ها تن دیگر را بی خانمان کرده و رشته های خانوادگی را گسسته و با تشدید رقابت های فرقه ای مردم را بجان هم انداخته است، و اکنون تهدید می کند که به ایران نیز گسترش یابد، خطر بزرگتری است که مردم جهان با آن روبرو هستند. در جواب به این، رشد پر شتاب بنیادگرائی مذهبی زندگی را برای زنان، کودکان، نیروهای سکولار و انقلابی ایران تبدیل به جهنم کرده و به نوبه خود به تجاوزگری امپریالیستی خدمت کرده و آن را تقویت می کند.

هیچ یک از این "انتخاب ها" ذره ای جنبه مثبت برای بشریت ندارند. همانطور که باب آواکیان، صدر حزب کمونیست انقلابی آمریکا، خاطرنشان کرده است: «آنچه در تضاد میان جهاد از یکسو و جهادگرائی جهانی از سوی دیگر می بینیم، در واقع تقابل دو قشر تاریخا منسوخ است؛ یکی در میان بشریت تحت استعمار و تحت ستم و دیگری طبقه حاکمه نظام امپریالیستی. این دو قطب ارتجاعی، در همان حال که با یکدیگر مخالفت می کنند اما یکدیگر را تقویت می کنند. اگر شما با یکی از این "منسوخ ها" سمت گیری کنید در نهایت هر دوی آنها را تقویت خواهید کرد.»

در شرایطی که آمریکا تهدید به حمله به ایران می کند (حرکتی که می تواند تمام خاورمیانه را به آتش بکشد و این دینامیک هولناک جهاد- جهادگرائی جهانی را تقویت کند) ضرورت تظاهرات دانشجویان ایرانی و دیگران در 22 دسامبر برجسته می شود. در شرایطی که آینده در خطر است، جهان تشنه آن است که یک صدای جدید، یک آواز نوین به مبارزه ای جدید جان بدمد؛ مباررزه ای با هدف متولد کردن یک جهان نوین و رها شده.

من برای کمک به راه افتادن مقاومت علیه جنایتهائی که رژیم بوش در حق بشریت مرتکب می شود و برای دمیدن به انقلاب، در بیش از ده دانشگاه آمریکا فعالیت کرده ام؛ و دیده و احساس کرده ام که نسل جدید در آمریکا تا چه حد از جنایتهائی که به نام آنان انجام می شود متنفر و خشمگین است. اما همچنین می دانم یک مسئله عمیقا آنان را فلج کرده است: این مسئله که گویا انتخاب فقط میان جهاد و جهادگرائی جهانی است. اگر آنان ببینند و بشنوند که شما یک صدای جدید هستید، تاثیرات بسیار بزرگی روی آنان خواهد گذاشت.

آن عده از ما که در آمریکا زندگی می کنیم مسئولیت بزرگی در مبارزه علیه "حکومت خودمان" داریم؛ ما باید یک مقاومت سیاسی توده ای بزرگ علیه این حکومت براه اندازیم؛ آنقدر قدرتمند که نتوانند آن را از دید قربانیان جنگ های آمریکا پنهان کنند؛ قربانیانی که بحق در مقابل این جنایات قلبهایشان پر از نفرت شده است.

جوانان باید جرات کنند یک دینامیک جهانی دیگری را در مقابل و در رقابت با دینامیک جهاد-جهادگرائی جهانی به میدان آورند. این ممکن است! صدای نوین ما باید از اقیانوس ها و قاره ها بگذرد و در اقصی نقاط جهان طنین بیندازد و برای بدیل دیگری راه بگشاید و به مبارزات واقعا رهائی بخش و آزادی بخش سوخت برساند؛ مبارزاتی که هم علیه جهاد است و هم جهادگرائی جهانی. این ممکن است! این صدا باید هم از درون دژهای امپریالیستی به گوش برسد و هم از درون خرابه هائی که تجاوزهای آمریکا بوجود می آورد. این ممکنست!

جوانان باید بیش از هر کس جرات کنند که این را تحقق بخشند. ما باید جنبش هائی را بوجود آوریم و گسترش دهیم که هدفش ایجاد جهانی است بدون جنگ های ویرانگر و غارتگر امپریالیستی؛ جهانی بدون اعوجاج عظیم که در یک سوی آن ثروت های عظیم در معدودی از کشورهای امپریالیستی انباشته شده است و در سوی دیگر آن توده های تحت استثمار صفوفشان روزبروز بیشتر می شود؛ جهانی بدون افکاری که منطبق بر این وضع است؛ جهانی بدون وجود افکاری مانند پدرسالاری و مفاهیم دروغینی مانند "طبیعت خودخواهانانه و تغییر ناپذیر بشری". این ممکنست!

جوانان باید بیش از هر کس جرات کنند جهانی را بوجود آورند که در آن انقیاد جهل مذهبی رخت بر بسته است: حال این مذهب می خواهد مذهب جورج بوش که تئوری تکامل را رد می کند باشد یا مذهب رقبای ایدئولوژیک جورج بوش یعنی آخوندهای اسلامی ایران. نسل جوان باید تلاش کند، بجای مذهب، توده های تحت ستم را به رویکرد علمی مسلح کند و آنان را قادر کند که نسبت به هر چیز رویکردی علمی داشته باشند منجمله به پروژه رهائی بشریت. این ممکنست!

جوانان باید بیش از هر کس جرات ایجاد جهانی را کنند که در آن با زن مثل انسان رفتار می شود و نه مانند برده و مایملک مرد؛ جهانی که زنان نه مانند وسیله جنسی مورد بهره برداری قرار بگیرند و نه در پیچه و روبنده پوشانده شوند تا "خلوص" بکارتشان حفظ شود. بردگی و انقیاد زنان نه قابل تحمل است و نه لازم است که چنین باشد. این وضع که نیمی از بشریت توسط اشکال "مدرن" غربی یا اشکال سنتی از نوعی که در خاورمیانه تحمیل می شود، در انقیاد و بردگی اند قابل تحمل نیست.بجای این، در سراسر جهان باید راه را برای جاری شدن خشم زنان بگشائیم تا مانند یک نیروی حقیقتا رهائی بخش با هدف رها کردن کل بشریت به میدان در آید. این ممکنست!

اما برای اینکه ممکن شود هم باید علیه اعمال آمریکا و جمهوری اسلامی ایران سخت مبارزه، مقاومت و فداکاری کنیم و هم بطور علمی و صادقانه جستجو کنیم و با مسائل پیچیده و سختی که در مقابلمان قرار دارد دست و پنجه نرم کنیم. همه اینها نیازمند مبارزه کردن و مطالعه کردن و فکر کردن و آرزو پردازی کردن در ورای آنچه که امروز "ممکن" و "واقع بینانه" به نظر می آید هست. برای این، لازم است به ساختارهائی که جهان را به وضع امروز رسانده و افکاری که همه این ساختار را تحکیم کرده است نگاه عمیق بیندازیم و ببینیم چه نوع انقلاب و کمونیسمی لازم است که واقعا بشریت بتواند به ورای کابوس هائی که امروز تبدیل به امور عادی شده است، برود.

و ما جوانان، بیش از هر کس، باید بی باکانه وارد این جستجو شویم و به نغمه های یاس و بدبینی که می گویند نمی توانیم این جهان را تغییر دهیم، به موعظه هائی که می خواهند افق ما را پائین بکشند، نه بگوئیم. تاریخ نشان داده که آرزو پردازان و مبارزین کار درست را می کنند. اصول خود را تعقیب کنید، برای تحقق عمیق ترین و عالیترین آمال خود فعالیت کنید و این شما را به هر جا که می کشد بروید.

در همهمه زوزه های امپریالیستها و بنیادگرایان ارتجاعی که بسوی یک رویاروئی در ایران می روند، هرگز به این مسئله که بشریت تشنه یافتن راهی دیگر است، کم بها ندهید. نقشی را بازی کنید که جوانان همیشه بازی کرده اند: در صف جلو قرار بگیرید، علیه هر حرکتی که آمریکا برای راه انداختن جنگ در ایران می کند و هر سرکوبی که جمهوری اسلامی در ایران براه می اندازد، مقاومت سیاسی سازش ناپذیری را سازمان دهید؛ نگذارید محدودیتهای وضع موجود شما را اسیر کند، دست رد بروی هر آنچه ارتجاعی است بزنید، پاسیویسم و انفعال دیگران را به چالش بطلبید، و در خدمت به آرزوهائی که آنقدر بزرگ و رهائی بخش اند که به بشریت امید حقیقی می دهند، جرات کنید که مبارزه کنید و جرات کنید که فداکاری کنید. این کار را با حس اضطرار و عزم انجام دهید و آن را با لذت و شادی وافر پیش برید زیرا هیچ چیزی در این جهان مهمتر از این کار نیست.

Vingt à 30 étudiants, dont les personnes nommées ci-dessus, sont détenus sans inculpation à Téhéran pour la plupart, mais également dans d’autres villes du pays, depuis les très nombreuses manifestations et les vastes sit-in organisés à l’occasion de la Journée nationale des étudiants en Iran, le 7 décembre. Il s’agit peut-être de prisonniers d’opinion qui n’auraient fait qu’exercer leur droit à la liberté d’expression et d’association, et Amnesty International craint qu’ils ne soient torturés ou soumis à d’autres formes de mauvais traitements en détention.

Plusieurs dizaines d’étudiants ont été arrêtés au cours des six dernières semaines en marge du mouvement de protestation contre le remplacement de très nombreux professeurs et d’autres actions visant manifestement à restreindre davantage la liberté d’expression sur les campus universitaires, avec par exemple l'interdiction de certaines publications étudiantes, ainsi que la suspension et l’exclusion d’étudiants. Il semble que des militants du Daftar-e-Tahkim-e Vahdat (Bureau pour le Renforcement de l'Unité) et du groupe Daneshjouyan-e Azadi Khah va Beraber Talab (Étudiants pour la liberté et l’égalité), deux mouvements étudiants, figuraient parmi les manifestants.
D’après une dépêche de l’Agence France-Presse (AFP), un porte-parole de l’appareil judiciaire iranien a déclaré le 11 décembre que jusqu’à 24 étudiants restaient privés de liberté, certains ayant été arrêtés au cours des mois précédents. Le site http://takravi1.blogfa.com/, en persan, fait état de 28 noms. La plupart des personnes interpellées à Téhéran seraient détenues aux sections 209 et 240 de la prison d’Evin, et d’autres se trouveraient dans les locaux d’une unité des services du renseignement appelée Daftar-e Paygiri (« Bureau de contrôle du suivi »).
Les récentes manifestations étudiantes, qui ont souvent rassemblé plusieurs centaines de personnes, se sont déroulées à Shahrud, à l’est de Téhéran, à l’Université de Mazandaran à Babolsar, dans le nord du pays, ainsi qu’à Chiraz, dans le sud. Selon les informations reçues par Amnesty International, Yaser Pir Hayati, l'un des détenus, est étudiant à l’Université Shahed à Téhéran, un établissement réservé aux enfants d’Iraniens tués pendant la guerre Iran-Irak (1980-1988). Le 12 décembre, des familles se sont rassemblées devant la prison d’Evin et le bâtiment du Parlement iranien afin de protester contre la détention au secret de leurs proches.

INFORMATIONS GÉNÉRALES
Depuis quelques années en Iran, les groupes étudiants sont aux avant-postes de la lutte pour un meilleur respect des droits humains. Depuis l’élection du président Ahmadinejad en 2005, le champ d’action de la société civile iranienne est de plus en plus restreint. En avril 2007, le ministre du Renseignement Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie a publiquement accusé le mouvement des femmes et les militants étudiants de participer à une « conspiration ennemie ».

ACTION RECOMMANDÉE : dans les appels que vous ferez parvenir le plus vite possible aux destinataires mentionnés ci-après (en persan, en anglais, en arabe ou dans votre propre langue) :
- appelez les autorités à libérer tous les étudiants arrêtés ces dernières semaines s’ils s’avèrent être des prisonniers d’opinion détenus au seul motif qu’ils ont exercé leurs droits, et ce de manière pacifique ;
- priez-les de libérer également tous les autres, à moins qu’ils ne soient inculpés d’une infraction dûment reconnue par le droit, auquel cas ils devront être jugés dans les meilleurs délais et dans le respect des normes internationales d’équité ;
- demandez des précisions sur les charges éventuellement retenues contre les personnes privées de liberté ;
- efforcez-vous d’obtenir la garantie qu’aucune d’entre elles ne sera victime de torture ni d’autres formes de mauvais traitements ;
- priez les autorités de s’assurer qu’il leur est permis sans restriction de recevoir la visite de leurs proches, de s’entretenir avec des avocats et de bénéficier de tous les soins médicaux dont elles pourraient avoir besoin ;
- rappelez aux autorités que l'exercice de la contrainte en vue d'obtenir des aveux est interdit par l'article 38 de la Constitution iranienne, qui dispose : « Toute forme de torture destinée à extorquer des aveux ou à obtenir des informations est proscrite » [traduction non officielle], et qu'en tant que partie au Pacte international relatif aux droits civils et politiques (PIDCP), l'Iran est tenu de respecter l'article 7 de cet instrument, qui spécifie : « Nul ne sera soumis à la torture ni à des peines ou traitements cruels, inhumains ou dégradants ».
